My Prison My Castle

The need to get out, the longing to stay

By Naomi GeorgePublished 10 months ago 1 min read

HER CASTLE HER PRISON

In the heart of seclusion, a soul resides,

Behind closed doors, where she confides,

A recluse since youth, her haven, her lair,

A love for solitude, beyond compare.

As the years passed by, the door stayed shut,

A fortress of comfort, a life somewhat cut,

From the bustling world outside her space,

She found peace within her sacred place.

The world beckoned, with enticing call,

The bustling streets, the friendships small,

Her castle's walls held tight and firm,

Yet with each day, her heart did yearn.

Her social life waned, her career stalled,

A fear of the world, in her heart installed,

Relationships struggled, unable to bloom,

As she lingered, in the shadows' gloom.

Her castle, her refuge, her heart's delight,

Yet within its walls, she yearned for light,

A paradox, this sanctuary she adored,

Both castle and prison, her spirit's chord.

A conundrum of emotions, she faced each day,

For in her solitude, happiness held sway,

Yet loneliness crept in, an unwanted guest,

Her heart torn between retreat and quest.

The world outside seemed vast and loud,

While within her castle, she felt endowed,

With inner peace and a tranquil grace,

Her soul found solace in this enclosed space.

In her castle, her prison, she finds her peace,

A gentle surrender, her soul's release,

Though her heart may wander, her spirit's free,

For behind that closed door, she'll always be.

"My castle, my prison," she softly sighed,

Embracing the paradox, her soul's guide,

And though she longs for a world unshown,

In her solitude, she's found a home of her own.
