How can he sit there,

And act like it does not matter.

Does he know,

That he’s causing her heart to shatter?

Words mean nothing ‘cuz

Actions speak the truth.

And she’s tired of trying,

So hard to make it through.

Her heart is beating,

And, yes, she’s still breathing.

But what is a heartbeat,

And what is a breath...

If there is nothing left to live for.

She has tried so hard,

To show him how she feels.

But he just looks away,

Because there’s no way that he would listen

Or even pay attention.

All the lies he’s said,

Have left her feeling more than dead.

Because what is a heartbeat, that beats for no one.

And what is a breath, if there’s nothing to breathe for.

Because she’s alive,

But might as well be dead.
