this dance we do, every night, every day
closer, then closer, then further away
always interacting, never intersecting
why must you always be so far?
you are to me an unreachable star
do you even know that I bask in your glow?
I try to reflect what I feel—do you see
when the heat of your gaze rests upon me?
if it were only up to you
would you want to be closer to me too?
I’d break the rules of space and time
to let our heartbeats intertwine
just once, then go our separate ways
I’ll keep the nights, you keep the days
for now all we have is our distant dance
but I hope that one day we will have our romance
