Meant to be in Love
poetry: Breakup, Love, Care
Meant to be in Love
He asked if we could stay friends,
When we find our something more,
We knew this arrangement would come to an end,
But will we be able to leave our chemistry at the door?
I admire him for all his worth,
What he has helped me through,
How he has relieved my hurt,
And overall, how much I grew,
Cradled within his impactful hugs,
And gazed through his caring eyes,
He has made me feel loved,
Without complications and forever goodbyes,
A kind of love coated in care,
Supported through actions,
The physical attraction was definitely there,
Never short of feeling our passion.
He has so many things I needed to see,
That people like him,
Were a possibility.
A person for me to invest in too,
To keep other names out of my mouth,
Someone else to choose,
A gentleman raised from the South.
We both were on a search for genuine,
And both came out better from this,
I would consider it a mutual win,
Just not where love was it.
Way more than friends with benefits,
A genuine connection,
Where we can learn, grow and live.
More was never in the equation,
Love is something so rare,
But he was there every occasion,
During the cute, sexy and even the bare.
To find a love in such an intimate way,
That never falls into anything more,
It will never be the love that you need to stay,
But are grateful that this person walked through your door.
To know you have someone who you have explored,
Created new good memories with and moved past others,
A person who reminded you, your worth being adored,
And after heartbreak, there will always be another.
A monumental person who helped you rebuild,
Now stands out on your steps ready to move on,
Requesting our involvement be put on chill
But with that our intimacy being gone.
I don't know how this will end,
But when it does,
Just as meeting him has proven,
Friendships are nurtured and not everyone is meant to be in love.
