A combo of laughter, common goals, & putting her patience to the test
She longed for a life with someone that appreciated her nuturing & ambitious ways
Someone who could see her value & knew it had nothing to do with needing praise
Two strangers with an alike past
Both looking forward to spending more time together
Secretly hoping this, whatever was happening, was meant to last
He easily made her smile & question things she knew nothing of
She energized his soul and awakened his heart with the possibility of experiencing real love
No topic was off-limits
They both craved a world built on the foundation of first being best friends
Standing by one another
Eagerly helping to declutter & rebuild what previously felt broken & meant to be lived out alone
It wasn't until fate brought them together
On the day of his birthday celebration
When they both could feel what they had always longed to feel

The difference between light and dark could be as quick and simple as a flip of a switch, the drawing of a curtain, the opening of one’s eyes. It could be more gradual like the slow adjustment of the diaphragm on a microscope, the turn of a planet on its axis, the growing light as you approach the end of a tunnel. A flicker in the dark, a steady glow in the distance, a flash in the night sky.
