When he arrives at the tomb, he finds Juliet alive but sleeping, and he decides to take his own life. Juliet awakens to find Romeo dead beside her, and she takes her own life as well.

Their deaths bring an end to the families' feud, and the play ends with a plea for the families to end their hatred and to learn a lesson from the young lovers' sacrifice.
