The Spring
The sun was high when Lance pulled off the road and into the dusty lot of the service station. The sign back at the hairpin--the first sign in a long time--said they just rolled into Hatter’s Creek, Population 63. It was small enough it didn’t appear on the handmap in Shelby’s lap, yet here it stood, the first backwater township on the fringes of the National Park. The plan was to gas up, restock the snack bag, and press on into the wilderness.

Yup, totally agree. Love is both bloom and thorns. But if I have to experience the thorns in order to experience the bloom, then I don't want the bloom at all. Like why would I do that to myself, lol. Loved your Haiku!

Mother Combs Love is rose. Thorns pricking the fingers as one breaks the stem of the rose off to smell the scent and on the way to smell the fingers bleed a little before breathing in the scent of the rose . Love is a rose Love your poem .
