Lines
The roads that bind us together

Lines separate and connect
Up and down
Back and forth
Carrying joy and sadness
Hard lines over soft dirt
Built for war and greed
The ones we know by heart return us home
Some follow ancient paths
Walked first by deer now sleeping along the edges in broken bundles
Up and down
Back and forth
Some turn white like bones
Seasoned with salt
Do they ever end?
They stop at Darién, someone said
And start again, I presume
