wish i listened more,
opened my ears to your quiet tears
and performed cpr on your sullen spirit
could i have saved you from yourself?
wish we read between the lines
wish we found your dictionary and gone page by page,
would we have been able to break your code?
wish we knew why,
why, why, why.
why did this happen?
why did you go so fast?
why does it hurt so bad?
wish i was numb,
maybe a knife would hurt less than this pain
of contemplating what could have been
wish i spoke to you one last time
try to convince you to stay here with us
would you have listened to me?
i keep wishing and wishing
but i know that it’s useless
to keep on wishing and wishing
but we all know the truth.

Why did you wait until you got to that bridge to cross it? That's the only time one can cross a bridge- A brigde, yes, yet you could've prepared way ahead of time Ahead of time there was only hurt and hate Oh, sure, we both got hurt, his actions still make me flinch But we survived, though his actions were a crime Survival was not enough, this carries far too much weight I did the best I could, processing bit by bit I honestly believe you did, as I too, though neither became sage I wanted more than anything to soothe your anguish, help you again feel at your prime Too late, mate. Way. Too. Late. I cannot just quit. You could've raised the subject when it came up, not waited until you got to the brigde I do desperately wish I had more time! Honestly, me too... me too, mate.
