Learn To Walk Once More

Walk away from any toxicity

This is the year to learn to love yourself,

Self-love is needed like never before,

Say no to anything that is set to hurt you,

Say yes to only those things you adore.

***

No more, learn to say it, no more,

Remove the toxicity from your day,

Don’t settle for anything less than you deserve,

And no more silence, stand up and have your say.

***

Take up walking in your best interest,

Walk away from those that do you harm,

Walk away from the fights that cannot be won,

Walk away from stress, but run for calm.

***

Remove the people that run you down,

Say no to those that expect you to please,

Remove the outsiders who don’t treat you well,

Forgive those who wrong you, then release.

***

Thank your negative thoughts and let them go,

Replace that self-talk that holds you back,

Listen to those that give you loving advice,

Definitely give the troublemakers the booted sack.

***

Don’t waste your tears on the undeserving,

Say goodbye to them in a loving voice,

Walk away, don’t look behind you,

Remember, you really do have a choice.

***

Your soul will rejoice every time you walk away,

A brighter future will open its arms wide,

Welcoming you and your self-loving strength,

As you learn to take the toxicity in stride.

***

No more poison running through your veins,

Mind at peace, body rejoicing in perfection,

Home will be your safe haven again,

And your soul will love your new direction.

***

It may get harder before it gets easier,

But I’ve total faith that you’ll beat back the toxic pack,

Hold tight to your support system when it’s tough,

Knowing your self-love will ward off all the attacks.

***

Stand regal in the perfection of you,

Knowing you’ve done the absolute best,

Now sit back, relax, love your life,

Realising it’s you that is lovingly blessed.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
