Karma

a poem

Karma came to get you

charted course, snuck her way in, and settled down

squatting in your backyard, she's a fiend

whispering through your window

consequences are expensive, you know,

and she always collects her debt.

Karma took a calligraphy course over a summer

signing her name on carefully selected postcards

dedicated to her craft, sending stories of good fortune, she's a pen pal

wishing me well in perfect script

make up for lost time, you earned it,

and I know exactly what she means.

Karma does not mince words

she automates her tallies for efficiency,

but the followup is an art form

individualized, specific, precise, she has a system

everyone gets what they deserve,

and she makes sure of it.
