That you keep for me

It's my Birthday on Sunday,

and I just want one thing

For you to call me,

You're the best at giving gifts

I'll hold out for "someday"

Whenever "someday" might be

I feel sick

Knowing that we have come to this

Self praise is no praise

Isn't that what you say?

I know I made you happy

If only for a minute,

and that Irish smile you keep for me

I know it's authentic,

and I will always cherish it

If you are locked away on Friday

Just know one thing

You're still gorgeous,

and I'd forgive you anything

I'll hold on to "someday"

Whenever "someday" might be

I feel sick

Knowing we have come to this

Self praise in no praise

Isn't that what you say?

I know I made you happy

If only for a minute,

and that Irish smile you keep for me

I know it's authentic,

and I will always cherish it
