"I'm Not Sorry!"

I will stand by your decision

"I'm not sorry!" he screams,

The little child

Inside this 6-foot, 100-kilogram, 37-year old man,

Takes over.

Stubborn,

Upset,

Annoyed that he's being reprimanded

For not a wrong

But a preference

Of keeping toxicity away from his life.

For wanting to share happy moments

With people who make him happy

Who reciprocrate.

He refuses to apologise

For the toxic, negative thoughts of others.

And I stand by him,

Maybe I don't through thick or thin

But definitely on this decision.

For he is not wrong

For wanting to give his love and time

To those who give the same to him.

We are all children inside really but I think here it describes the impulsiveness of his reaction as well as its purity. I liked this. Good for him.

This gives a powerful picture of a person standing up for themselves against toxic and negative influences. It effectively portrayed the message of self-respect and the importance of surrounding oneself with positive influences. Great job!

  • Stand by such a man, just as he stands by you (not bayou, that would be wet & messy--though it could also be an adventure & a beautiful place to visit).

Sometimes people just need a break, right?

  • Cutting off toxic people although they're family or someone very close should be normalised! I'm so glad you're supporting him in this decision. Loved your poem!
