I love you little girl

Yes, you the one with sad eyes

Who believed that I love you was nothing

but a pretty lie

The one who cried because of a pain so sharp

That at times you looked for physical marks

The one who hated herself

And didn’t know how to ask for help

The one who didn’t trust that anyone would care

That anyone could even hear

The little girl whose voice had been slowly stolen

I love you

I love how you learned to make do

How you protected yourself and withdrew

You weren’t weak or broken

You were waiting and hoping

Hoping that someone will save you

If only you could have known

That you would be your greatest hero

How special and wonderful you are

How I love that beautiful smile

I love you little girl

Yes, you the one with hopeful eyes
