I don’t like the noises my house makes when I’m alone

There shouldn’t be footsteps or creaking or mumbles or groans

I fear that my house may have an unwanted guest

But something less wholesome than a measly pest

My house is an old one, it’s been here for years

Although it’s been sturdy that’s not what I fear

My thoughts are secluded to one subject matter

I’m hoping that answers are serve on a platter

For you see I’ve been thinking, all through the day

I’ve lived in this house far to long not to stay

I’d hate to be chased out by something as small

As a ghastly little creature inside these four walls

No I’ll fight and I’ll rattle the cages that way

Maybe this living thing will just GO AWAY
