He Bests This Thing Called Life
With all its ups and downs
He rolls with life’s ups and downs,
Cresting the waves in anticipation,
He treasures the hiccups as necessary,
In which to appreciate the wins in any situation.
**
He rides the resulting emotions,
Knowing that all things come to an end,
Holding tight to the negative, patiently waiting,
And savouring the joy in which he’ll transcend.
**
His anger is a pressure cooker waiting to explode,
He keeps that lid tightened and holds on tight,
His tears runs rivulets down his face,
And he gently waits until it is made right.
**
His laughter bursts from the scenes hilariously,
Keeping his sense of humour through right and wrong,
His love will climb mountains for the right one,
Letting them know they do truly belong.
**
His sorrow is cast aside to be dealt with tomorrow,
Life is too short to let himself wallow,
His powers of persuasion are tilled to a crisp,
Leading many a friend who adore to follow.
**
He has an inner strength that leave most of us in awe,
He bends with his loyalty, fair to one and all,
But do him wrong — I’ll heartily warn you not to,
Because pride comes before a mighty fall.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

This was so powerful my friend and I'm so happy for him! Loved your poem!
Or as I just shared with someone else yesterday, for a stuntperson the mighty fall comes before they find something of which to be proud. Quite the individual to inspire & for us to aspire to be, Colleen, someone with whom I resonate more for my failings than my successes.
Fantastic!!! Loving this inspirational poem.!!!💕❤️❤️
