Grief Can be as Wide as a Universe

A Poem About Continuing on

By Kate WestphalPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

Once I reflected upon a memory of you

And a comet lit up the night sky

So, I figured you were amongst the stars

With no concept of grief or goodbye.

I gathered up all my courage,

And rocketed out into space.

I danced and twirled in nebulas

And got moon dust on my face.

I searched on worlds shrouded in night

And encountered ones glaring in sun

And with each new planet I'd come across

I'd say, "She has to be on this one".

But no sign of you could I find

In the swirling galaxies I did roam,

And my loved ones had to pull me back

Down to Earth, to home.
