For my Alien
The Most Important Thing
While it’s a fave of mine,
Best not let Alien watch District Nine!
Oh, and then there’s Independence Day …
Uh-uh, silly thing, nah, no way.
Yes, movies and novels are my go-to activity,
But if Alien sees certain some, we’ll all end in captivity.
Perhaps I should stick to comfort food,
Keep Alien in a happy, carefree mood.
I could take Alien to experience gentle waves brushing the shore;
Of such peace and beauty, Alien’s sure to want more.
And then there’s our gorgeous Cornish hills—
As long as we miss the open mines and smelly landfills.
Can we hide from Alien exactly what we are?
Most likely, their species has studied us from afar.
Mmm, on second thought,
To be honest, we aught.
If they have brains and hormones anything like ours,
Alien will understand we’re not all chocolate and flowers.
Intellect and emotions ensure we’re a bagful of pix-n-mix,
Of which Alien and his kind will know all the tricks.
Out of all the many joys of this world, we all crave acceptance—
To be seen and heard and avoid hate and vengeance.
So, yes indeed, I’ll show Alien the most important thing …
Kindness and an open heart, regardless of origin or linguistic string.

Ah, so many aliens, I hope they all get together and we all have a party at the end of this challenge. That would be so much fun. Your alien will def love you.
Totally agree that kindess and an open heart is the most important thing! Such a wonderful poem!
Wow 😯😯
I'm sure the years of studying us from their saucers will have shown them just what a warlike species we are and they'll decide to visit somewhere else to build their holiday resort.Maybe you can persuade them that some of us are more evolved than others but I reckon too long here will lead to a lot of Beam Me Up Scotty's.
I really love this poem, Harmony! 🤍🌺
