Almost slept on it.

Bet some money I couldn't pay back;

Caught a right hook to the chin.

Damn, I'd do it all again.

Encapsulating second chances,

Fate evading circumstances,

Grinding teeth against the pavement;

Hiding in plain sight.

Incinerate the mindset that tells you it's

Just right.

Knife in the back

Lying on the concrete;

Murder in plain sight.

Nobody asked for this

Omnipotent overlord; abundance is a trick.

Putting lighters in a haystack

Quantum spark to light the match.

Round the corner with no blinker

Suffocating on your spit.

Tell the Joker she's a keeper

Until the

Very end.

What would you do for a moment in time?

X it out and start again?

You wouldn't waste it, surely not twice;

Zenith constantly out of reach.

    I absolutely love how open to interpretation you’ve left this. Even the subtitle is a mysterious contextual clue — and to me, it’s the voice of your readers. We don’t know what you meant when you wrote this, but it’s sure to provoke ideas. To me, this reads like a philosophical debate on if free will can truly exist. If people are hardwired a certain way, they’ll repeat mistakes with no capacity to change; to move differently would require them to think differently, and be someone they’ve never been.

    This was so good Ashley, I was drawn in and didn’t realize until almost the end that this was an abecedarian! “Tell the Joker she's a keeper Until the Very end.” Loved that, gave me chills!
