focus on the colour clear

a mindless place where only heart exists

By Ross Pelham Austin LockhartPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

”Focus on the colour clear”

She would say.

‘She’ was many things; a

Medicine woman

Male

First Nation American

Trickster and Mentor

Enigma and Riddle.

-

“Focus on the colour clear”

A simple impossible task

An instruction to aid me

Focus my intention

Quiet my mind

Don’t think

Don’t think

Simple intention.

-

“You are still a child”, she would say.

Thoughts like radio static:

Confused and mingled

Blurred and unfocused.

Always on.

Focus.

Focus on the colour clear.

A mindless place where only heart exists.

-

“My tribe knows 14 types of love”, she’d say.

“your tribe knows of one

“you are still a child”

And I’d sit

Complicit in her wisdoms

Trying

Trying

To be better.

-

“Mindless grey matter”, she would say

When referring

To those all around.

“Orange is Understanding

“Blue is Change

“Yellow, Vision

“Red, Passion

“Green, Healing”.

-

“Colour your intention” she would say.

“There’s gift in Choice”

“Everything you do

“Must

“Have

“Intention!”.

She would say

“Choice is your gift to the World”

-

Then came the day

When she would not ‘say’ anymore.

‘She’ was many things; a

Teacher

Father

Technicolour in a colourless land.

A glint of Wonder

In an wholly un-insightful World.

-

I still focus on the colour clear.

But the static

Still

Persists.

Her voice still lingers,

As clear as the colour clear.

She was many things.

But mostly

A gift.
