Some are willing to give their body
Others their mind
But few will risk their soul
For life has taken its toll
On us all
With its unrelenting draw
Opening its maw
To swallow us whole
As we stroll
Through a strange land
A stranger in every face
Some filled with anger
Many with fear
Turned to malice and danger
Of the unchallenged trauma
A brutal world
Truth obscured by uncertainty
In a land of plenty
Where we die of falsified scarcity
Where the rarity of love
Is held above all others
In a world that seeks to smother our true selves
Just living life
With our passion shelved

That constant tug of war between my passion for what I want of this life & my fear of what it might cost, exacerbated exponentially by the fact that most everyone else experience the same struggle, creating a world full of pitfalls just waiting for the opportunity to trip up & frustrate the pursuit of our hopes & dreams.
Wonderful piece. Very well done.
Eloquently said!!! ❤️❤️💕
Lots of bitter truths in this poem. I especially liked the lines about people dying of falsified scarcity and living with their passion on a shelf. Excellent work.
Absolutely loved the last line. Great work! 👏👏👏
