Dragonsong

my life’s view is a bit romantic

By Emma GreenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I Know

You are not mine

Not mine to claim

Not mine to miss

Not mine to love

My head knows

But my heart

She is another beast

She has made you hers

You live in her

Though you don’t know

I beg her to let you go

And claim only what is hers

But she is selfish

She sees you move

And speak

And laugh

And she falls for you

My selfish heart wants all things

truly beautiful

And can’t be swayed otherwise

She hoards lovely people

And sits on her treasure

And hopes they will remain only hers

We move through life full of love

Weighed down

By people who don’t belong

Collected over a lifetime

And held captive

Within our walls
