Don’t Forget About Your Friend
A Gift For The Giver
While you’re out shopping for gifts for friends and family
Don’t forget about your friend that’s closer than a brother
The friend that’s been there when there was no other
The friend that was around when you couldn’t find your mother
The friend that has always given you good advice
The friend that sticks by you day and night
The friend that’s always been there to calm your fears
The friend that always wipe away your tears
The friend that has been there when there was no father
The friend that has always been around when others didn’t want to be bother
The friend that has been there when you wanted to grab your kids by the collar
The friend that has been there when you felt a need to holler
The friend that has always protected you during the best times of your life
The friend that has hung around when others thought you were a strange sight
The friend that stood by you when your spouse wasn’t acting right
The friend that has always protected you when you played
The friend that has always encouraged you not to stray
The friend that has always been there when you needed to pray
Now that you’re thinking about your friend
What do you have to say
How about giving up that sin
And making a gift of committing your life
While you still have some might
To do what is right
And discover the peace
That you’ll find within
That comes from sins that have been amended
Jesus is that friend
That has promised to stick with you
Even beyond the end
Isn’t this his birthday
That the world’s supposed to be celebrating
Then why neglect giving him his gift
After all he sacrifice his life
That you might have a right
To eternal life
All he wants is a committed life
So you don’t miss out on the benefits
Of his paid price
His shed blood
In his love
He took the pain
That was all part of the cost
All because he didn’t want your soul lost
Don’t forget about your friend

Born in San Francisco, CA. Son of a preacher. After committing my life to Jesus Christ, I noticed the letter I wrote to God had rhyming lines. That became my first poem.
