This is for Mother Comb's, whimsical and delightful 'How to Build a Snowman' Challenge! Thank you!

When building a snowman

keep these few rules in mind

Draft together a plan

originate your design

Call out to your mates

collect twigs and fresh carrots

Grab a top hat in case

you need some holiday spirit

You'll need a shovel and coal

a scarf and some buttons

Spin them around the maypole

about a half a dozen

Start rolling the snow

stay away from the yellow

Maybe a cup of cocoa

for the frosty ol' fellow

Center the eyes

make him smile, just a little

add a special surprise

a corncob pipe, that you whittled

Put his hat on his head

wrap his neck up warm, in a scarf

Be sure to carry your sled

in case you want to windsurf

The thing about snowmen....

is, it's hard to go wrong

The Winterland is your playpen

the frosty breeze sings it's song

On those cool winter days

when the snow, balls up, just right

The snowman awakens to play

starting the biggest snowball fight

Don your gear, find a drift

something to hide yourself under

Check the air for a lift

the enemy's spoils to plunder

The big yellow ball in the sky

is clearly no match

When those snowballs take flight

the time passes too fast

It's the imagination of youth

keeping the true magic alive

That sparkle in your eye, is the proof

that holiday spirit, won't die

I love this take on it! All I could picture was Frosty

  • Add a bucket of water to make slush & it'll last longer. (Yeah, growing up it was deeply embedded into each of our psyches to make things last, lol.) Beautiful memories.

Absolutely warmed my heart, this poem. Kinda also felt like a step by step guide to building one. Nice!

This made me want to actually try to build a snowman; it's been years since I have done so despite no lack of snow or cocoa! *Thanks for reminding me that I need to learn how to whittle a corn cob pipe! Fun story!
