Days Of Dust

Make Them Count

A handful of dust

In Louis Vuitton

Diamonds to rust

With another day gone

*

No promise for tomorrow

and new debts today

A heart with an arrow

no more money to pay

*

Collecting the moments

shared with those that we love

Not unlike ourselves

fractured people of dust

*

Like a scene of a movie

frames go by in a flash

No remote to rewind it

No way of making them last

*

Filling days with ordinary

and the flash of surprise

Each year, worth celebrating

to see the joy in those eyes

*

Just a series of years

compiling a life

Maintaining dust and our tears

until it’s time for goodbye

Question: How long does it take for a diamond to decay into dust? Answer: It depends upon what forces are acting upon it, the same as anything (or anyone) else.
