Calligrapher of the Sea

- Echoes of Childhood's Seashore

By Dawnxisoul393artPublished 4 days ago 2 min read

In the pages of my childhood's tale

A story spun by my father

without fail

I've read it countless times

its words so dear

A journey etched in memories

crystal clear

/

At the tender age of only two

I embarked

on a seaside rendezvous

With innocent wonder

I stepped on the sand

A world of discovery awaiting

so grand

/

I took a breath

feeling the ocean's breeze

Excitement in my heart

as far as the eye sees

In the soft, golden grains

I wrote my name

A declaration of presence

a child's small claim

/

As fate would have it

a mighty wave crashed

Engulfing my name

my mark quickly dashed

Yet, undeterred

another wave emerged

With graceful prowess

my name it urged

/

Hai, the calligrapher

of the sea's grand show

Crafted my name

in a script only he would know

With strokes of water

fluid and free

the sea inscribed

my identity for all to see

/

Though his artistry was fleeting

transient in time

Hai, the sea's scribe

remembered my rhyme

In the depths of his memory

my name remained

A testament to the bond

we had attained

/

Through the ebbs and flows

of life's vast sea

Hai's calligraphy whispered

secrets to me

In the rhythm of the tides

I heard his voice

A melody of connection

a soulful rejoice

/

For years we danced

to the ocean's song

A kinship established

deep and strong

Hai, the guardian

of my transient fame

Preserved my essence

my very name

/

In the vast expanse

of the sea's domain

We shared a bond

unbreakable, untamed

He taught me resilience

to rise anew

Like the waves

that rewrite stories

tried and true

/

As I grew older

my footprints would fade

But the tale of my youth would

never degrade

For within the story book

penned by my kin

Lay the imprint of a journey

that forever sings

/

The symphony of the sea

a timeless refrain

Resonates within

easing any pain

Hai's calligraphy

a testament to grace

An eternal connection

that time can't erase

/

As I turn the pages

of my childhood's tome

I'm reminded of the love

that led me home

In the story written

by my parents' hand

Hai's presence lingers

like an eternal strand

/

For the story book of my life

a cherished tome

Is etched with memories

like seashells in foam

Though the waves may

wash away my name

In the depths of my heart

Hai's calligraphy remains

/

Note:

"Hai", means the sea in Mandarin.

Postscript:

This is the story of the lasting connection between Doris and Hai, the calligrapher of Hai. Although the moment when the waves erase and rewrite Doris' name on the beach is short-lived, the essence of our kinship is still indelibly engraved in our memory. The story of Doris' childhood became the carrier of this eternal story, which proved the resilience of family, nature and human spirit. Hai's calligraphy is a fleeting but fascinating work of art, which symbolizes the fragility and beauty of life experience and reminds us that even the shortest moment can leave an indelible mark on our hearts and souls. As the narrator grows older, this precious connection with the marine scribe continues to guide and inspire us, which is a ray of light that passes through the tapestry of our existence.
