Slain
Photo by Fer Troulik on Unsplash

the sun switched on like a night light, ignited, now it’s been slain by his own mother

Split into two as an atom

The sunniest part melting down, like a soupy mess

Into the moon

Lighting her up

Like a new lover

The star below, her new supply of narcissism

Craved deliverance.

“You once told me you loved me,” the star cried.

“Do not lie, I never did.”

The pain of being so viscerally slain

Was like rebirth, so painful

Wretched, alone

More alone than any living creature on the earth,

Agony stretching her star-veins.
