Gazing in the air
watching the birds as they fly by
Feathers everywhere
as they twirl against the sky
The melody returned
drifting like clouds away, up high
Dancing in the wind
telling their tales of wonder why.
*****
Caught up in distractions
missing out on interactions
Is there anybody listening to the sound of the birdsong
We would find more satisfaction
resulting in a chain reaction
inviting us to fly away and simply, sing along
*****
Cotton candy clouds envelope gray and rainy days
there's a calm beneath the lining in the cool evening haze
There is a longing in the melody, that begs us, please, to stay
if you feel the notion, do not hesitate to play
*****
Caught up in distractions
missing out on interactions
Is there anybody listening to the sound of the birdsong
We would find more satisfaction
resulting in a chain reaction
inviting us to fly away and simply, sing along

Getting back to nature is one way of soothing all our rough edges. Good work.

This was so wonderful! Loved it so much!
That’s beautifully composed Kelli ❤️✨ Thank you for this!
Started reading today looking for some good poetry to give me inspiration found it here, Thank you Kelli
Amazing ❤️📝😉
What a beautiful coincidence! I just went out to shut my front gate and to my delight the Rainbow Lorikeets have returned with their shrill crescendo and crazy antics. I then read this and had an "Om" moment - thank you - your words fit the moment I just had so aptly!
Back in the day (growing up & during the nine years we were serving churches in South Dakota when all we had was a window ac unit in one room of the house), we kept our windows open a lot. But once we discovered that our son was allergic to grasses my wife started to keep everything shut. I miss waking up to the sounds of birdsong.
Love the imagery in the poem ♥️
