Ballet of two

A girl and horse

By Colleen WaltersPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

He looked up and saw her standing there and he knew by her shape, her scent, that she was the woman he loved. Her kisses were endless and she whispered sweet nothings in his ear whenever they were together. He adored her hair and took joy in pulling her hair tie off and watching her hair spill down like a waterfall.

He started walking towards her and he saw her smile. He quickened his step, never taking his eyes off of her and she stood there , waiting for him to come close, to breathe on her as he inhaled her essence.

He came in close for her tender yet powerful embrace, and she told him how beautiful he was. He was always looking for a romance and she was ever so willing to drop everything for him.

He laid his head on her shoulder and she rubbed his face. Then she put the halter on.

“ Good boy” she whispered and together they walked as one through the tall grass, her stroking his long shiny neck and smiling.

They got to his stall and she gave his long white nose a kiss, as he nuzzled her face and hair.

All he wanted was a good scratch and she was the best scratcher.

Many years ago, they danced together in the arena; he following her lead as if they were one being- it was love and mutual adoration that gave them wings as they floated across the sand. He became a ballet dancer as the music carried them above and beyond the arena.

He’s getting grey now and arthritis has slowed his step; he spends his days waiting for her to come and get him in the pasture to give him scratches and kisses.

She’s still his girl and Magellan’s still her unicorn.
