Making awkward eye contact
with two furry rabbits,
I instantly felt guilty
swallowing my last
bite of roasted
carrots.
...
Soggy leaves
leave behind the
residue of autumn.
Fertilizing summer’s soil
so the winter snowflakes can blossom.
...
You’re the
celestite crystal
vibrating my mahogany
mantel above the brick fireplace.
Energizing the birch smoke,
causing blue ash clouds
to crystallize as resin
on the bookcase.
My drug of choice
when needing to resort
my delusive heart to
its illusive hiding place.
...
Jealous
of your eyes,
stars fall to earth to
study how they shine.
Unfortunately, their education
was cut short once they realized
you’re simply one of a kind.
