An Irish Fool's Moon

The night was as bright as her dreams

Of all the things she missed

Most of all was the softness of his lips and the intensity of his kiss

Next, it would be his voice and the way he spoke to me

Encouraging my mind to feel less and focus on what I felt inside me

Such an amazing soul fueled by advice that he too had learned

Maybe from lost love, poor choices, or other things he yearned

Either way, their crossroads were always connected by a full moon

No questions to ask or seek… it was the night sky left to speak

Staring up at the stars made everything around them feel small

Like they were standing on the world with only each other's arms to fall

Timing is a factor that felt so unfair and yet it was their destiny to bear

She just wanted him and only him

Yet, he felt as if she didn’t really care

How could he… fooled by so many others before her

Feelings and emotions in a connected sense for him had become a blur

Nights feeling lonely and uncared for…

When he had no idea how many times she sang to him beneath the dark night

‘Somewhere out there’ brought her comfort and chased away her fright

My god the things she would change just to see him, feel him, and know she was craved

There was no force or reckoning, for him she wouldn’t brave

He made her feel whole in a world that said she was broken and shattered

Yet, in his strong embrace, there was never any doubt how much she really, truly mattered!
