An Intangible Wonder
A poem about the illusive power of love
Love is a smell of cocoa,
a taste of water,
a lion rubbing its face against yours,
a majestic breath fogging your eyes.
A tree growing through you,
a wind lifting your hair,
and carrying it throughout the day.
Love is a tickle across the stomach,
before it leaves.
When it's gone,
it becomes the salt stinging your feet,
a blind insect tapping around with its tentacles,
seeing nothing, feeling everything, but love for yourself.
When it returns,
it melts orange onto the horizon,
and becomes the light blinding your eyes,
making you believe that you can see in the dark
once again.
Love is the sound of the ground cracking beneath,
as you blush a cloud of flamingoes across the sky.
