An ancient memory

This poem is dedicated to Alicia ( the Hawaiian 🌺 Goddess who embodies such love of Mother Earth and her children).

“A magnificent starfruit tree

a grandmother tree stood there

with the largest fruit here in Vallarta.

I had to drive back to it

and I offered to buy some fruit

from its family”, she said…

I watched her mothering attention, I saw her eager hands open the bag, then cut up the ripe starfruit, one after another to feed us all.

“ Three generations: a grandfather, his son and his grandson had to figure out a way to help me harvest these fruits high up in the sky…and from the goodness of their one heart we can now share this divine fruit today”,

she spoke again and she glowed with the joy that can only be unearthed in the now…juice dripping from her fingers unto this fecund garden.

Oh, my dear heart …this human heart has been well trained to slow down the intensity of the presence of this Mother Force of Creation… otherwise it would have burst into millions of suns right in that moment.

A young mother and a baby were there with us… ready for this extraordinary feast… she fed the mother first: “here, this will make starfruit milk.”

Young mother smiled and touched her sacred breasts for a moment to check on the milk supply.

…then she gave the baby

a slice of starfruit, his tiny hand

smaller than the juicy star

landing on his lips… and then we all

heard the sing song of purest contentment … a baby cooing, the lost audio memory of God tasting fruit through the mouth of babes.

And yes… she brought this ancient memory back to us just like that… with a simple offering of starfruit.

Note: There are many moments in my day to day existence that move me to tears of oneness with the Mother of creation in everyone and everything I see… I hope this one simple sharing of these mystical moments of everyday life brings you a delightful trigger to be always on the lookout for the miraculous.
