Last year what I mostly love, was

All that buzz

Made my scripted show

Let everyone know

It was out there

Entertaining flair

Just standing on the street

Weather person came over seemed sweet

Asking me questions about my dramatic sit com

Streaming reviewed as a bomb

‘A good holiday,’ the meteorologist did wish

Looking like a reporter investigated information to dish

Are you returning next year?

Or the ratings you do fear?

I stated the forecaster the truth

Things suddenly hit the roof

In the trucking studio booth

Later returned to the filming lot, ever so cold

Since we were told

Time to fold

Yes, last year what I mostly love was

All that buzz

That brought me to my tragic end

Due to the journalistic pen

What am I now?

I mumble hearing the devastating pow

An apple plucked from a vine

By someone who knew I had the time

To ripen my creative skills

Earning money to pay the bills

I did my part

Acting smart

Getting a start

Wow, my phone just rang

From the rival network gang

Asking me to appear

An offer I did hear

From the television courter

Who placed an order

Enough episodes for a season

Which gave me a reason

To listen

About the challenging mission

Worth the weight in gold

By those individuals ever so bold

Signed my name

Getting back into the game

Fall schedule released

I read it and was at peace

Until a visit from

The meteorologist on the network proclaimed number one

Featuring a primetime line up strong

What could go wrong?

Realizing we had a catching opening credit song

“Nothing,” I said

Toasting with the caterer's bread

Until the angel spy

Wanting to print a lie

Wondering, who, where and why

Thinking a shopper is going to buy

Their magazine while checking out

Curious learning all about

“What is going on in that performer’s head?

Scheming to stay out of the red”

They ask

Claiming it was their task

‘No, only wanting a bride to wed

Is the tease I fed’

Now, back on the street

Trying to stay on my feet

I saw the meteorologist doing the theatrical reporting dance

And I walked away in a trance

Needing a financial advance

That is when I got the buzz

Cell phone it was

Another offer someone gave me

And I scheduled an appointment featuring European tea

Hopefully, this one will work

Without any influence from either matrimony or stork

performance poetry
