ABSENCE OF NEED

Living in modern day society
where everything is within sight,
people hurry through their lives
even though it doesn't feel right.
Being too perfect to be true
yet still they reach for the stars,
as answers arise out of nowhere
like auto without any drivers.

No longer needed for survival
just another thing to forget,
along the road towards tomorrow
with signs saying "slippery when wet".
Because it's easy to lose control
and slide over the yellow line,
fallen asleep while driving along
having drunk too much wine.

When you don't feel hungry
and life seems to move too fast,
often times the moment fades
and happiness doesn't seem to last.
Just another empty dream
which happens so often in life,
leaving you without any desire
or anything to feed your strife.

A feeling of utter contentment
without any malicious intention,
while sensing need from others
that seek unwarranted attention.
Afraid to face the world as it is
for reasons which are unknown,
thinking the future without hope
betrayed by visions they are shown.

Sitting in front of a glowing screen
while destiny quickly passes by,
Offering a better chance to live
instead of some cartoon sky.
If paradise does truly exist
beyond the hype and pretense,
then maybe we can live together
without need for vain arrogance.
