Why Not Be Part Of Something Valuable

You get a lot more out of being part of something than trying to do it all alone.

You know what to do, don’t you? In every circumstance, you know what needs to be done. People are smart enough to figure that out, but the magic question remains: why don’t they do things the right way when they have the chance?

How much more divided can we all get? We have devolved into a race of self-centered, self-serving, petty creatures, and it is more noticeable now in 2026 than at any time in history. This devolution has had an obvious, and sometimes horrific, effect on us.

Even the online communities have changed, and people aren’t the same. If you say the wrong thing, you’re going to have a feed that’s lit up with insults, be berated for your statements, and at times threatened. And that’s if you are simply stating facts.

As we’ve gotten more and more caught in the maelstrom of politics and current affairs, families have been separated, friendships have been ruined, and there’s no end in sight to that level of divisiveness in the world. And for what? So that this politician, or that public face, can have all the power and money in the world?

Isn’t It Past Time To Turn The Tide

For real and meaningful change to occur, it isn’t going to come from an election, a rising political star, accepting foreign influence over your country, or being overly focused or judgemental of the suits in Washington, D.C.

The Divisiveness could be really dangerous and it can create a lot of violence I think. So we have got to heal that by embracing that everybody wants the same thing, and they are just going about it in different ways.

 — Doreen Virtue

When you think about it, that is as true a statement as anybody has ever spoken. We all likely want the same things. It’s the approach that is dividing us. But that approach isn’t what most of us are doing, or acting upon.

Most of us follow one side or another because we have similar beliefs. That’s alright. People have a right to believe what they want. However, forcing your beliefs on people is a different story.

Does anybody remember when they were more attached to a community? There’s less and less of a sense of community in this world. And that’s the part of division we are guilty of ignoring. Think about this:

A strong community lifts everyone up. Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

 — Helen Keller

Are you lifting anybody, or are you ignoring opportunities to lift people who want the same as you?

The simplest acts can raise someone’s spirits. And, if you find yourself in an area with like-minded individuals, you may be able to lift them in ways they can’t thank you enough for. The lesson in that is that Rome wasn’t built in a day, or by one person.

There is immense power when a group with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goals.

We’re All Chasing The Same Thing

Deep down, whether you’re a Christian, a conservative, a liberal, a socialist, an immigrant (legal or not), you’re chasing the same thing as millions of others. And that’s interesting. Millions of people all wanting to be free of worry, financially stable or more, successful, and able to enjoy their lives.

There should be a huge community of people coming together from that simple fact. Somehow, we’ve lost our way and forgotten that less than 1,000 people shouldn’t be who we’re looking to for help or leadership. We can’t depend on them to change anything in our favor.

But that would mean we have to come together if we’re to lift each other, push one another, and achieve the dreams we still have.

What’s your dream? While it’s all on you, do you see where you need others to get to the top? You need the support of your community. If you’re hoping to do better here, you need to find hundreds of readers a day. If you want to be a singer, you need fans. If you want to be a novelist, you need fans of your work.

Whatever it is, you can keep trying to do it alone, or you can find a community of those like you, and watch the change in your picture of success.
