When you think of life milestones, a few things, such as graduation, getting a high paying job, buying a house, getting married, having kids, and getting your driver's license, may come to mind. These milestones are no doubt big accomplishments that should be celebrated. However, there are many other important life milestones that are often overlooked. In our world today it is very easy to compare yourself to others, and oftentimes, these well-known milestones are used to compare yourself and your accomplishments to other people and the things that they have accomplished. It is important to remember that everyone is different and we all have different resources and challenges in out lives, It is also important for everyone to remember that there are many different kinds of milestones outside of the well-known ones that I mentioned above. I have written a list below of life accomplishments that I consider to be underrated milestones. I know that there are many more milestones outside other than the ones below. Please feel free to share your own life milestones in the comments section.

1. Finding a hobby or job that you truly love - Discovering my love for writing had a very positive impact on my life. I hope to become a published author someday. When I started blogging eight years ago I discovered that I truly enjoyed writing. It is not always easy to find the thing that you truly love doing. Sometimes it takes a lot of exploration but once you find that thing you really love it is an accomplishment that is worth celebrating.

2. Picking out an animal to adopt from a shelter - The first time I got to choose an animal from the shelter was in the year 2008, It was a big decision, but I got a great cat. It is definitely something that I still think about. However, this is a milestone that you need to make sure that you are absolutely ready for.

3. Finishing a race - It can be a 5k or marathon. The distance does not really matter. The feeling of crossing the finish line for the first time is a beautiful one, and finishing a race is something to be proud of. It can also be away to discover if you have a love for racing or sports that you did not know that you had.

4. Having a long-lasting friendship - Long lasting romantic relationships are often seen as a big accomplishment. However, having a long-lasting friendship is just as important. It can be hard to find a person that you can have a true strong friendship with. When you find that person or maybe even more then one person that you can have a true friendship with you have indeed accomplished something amazing.

5. Traveling somewhere that you have day dreamed about - There is something truly amazing about actually being in the place that you have day dreamed about being in. You have watched many videos about this place and have done hours of research, and now you are there for real. It is an emotional experience that is almost impossible to forget.

6. Seeing your favorite performer in concert - Let me tell you that this is a huge underrated milestone! There is something so special about seeing some of your favorite songs performed right in front of you! Having that experience is definitely something to be proud of.

7. Going somewhere so often that the employees know you - Every day, we interact with people that we don't know. There is something special about building a relationship with the people who work at a place you go to often. There is also something truly remarkable about being greeted by name while you are just running your normal errands. Our lives often get very busy that even by having a small connection is an accomplishment.
