True Self Love

Part 1

Learning to truly love yourself is harder than you think. Most everyone think they love themselves, but in reality we don’t! Think about it, do you feel guilty when you tell someone “No”? Do you live to please others? Do you allow others to hurt you? Do you choose others over your own needs? THAT IS NOT SELF LOVE!!

Look into your own eyes in the mirror. Tell yourself “I Love You!” Do it 3 times every time you pass a mirror. In the morning when you’re preparing for your day, ask yourself “What can I do today to make me happy?” And do it!!

If someone asks you to do something you don’t want to do or really don’t have the time or interest to do, say “No” WITHOUT explanation! Don’t feel guilty about it, because you just exercised self love! It feels selfish but it’s not.

Take “fish” out of “selfish” and replace it with “love”! You deserve it! Ase’

Part 2

We often make promises to others, when do we make and keep promises to ourselves? To get in to practice start small. Promise yourself a treat at the end of the week, an ice cream or your favorite dessert. Grow from there and say a manicure or trip to the salon every other week.

You can also do simple things for free without spending a dime like give yourself a pedicure or spend a quiet afternoon in the park or your back yard with a book. Cook one of your favorite meals with a glass of wine or sparkling cider.

You know what you like, do it! Reward yourself! If you can’t do it weekly commit to paying up on your promise to self at least biweekly. Make note in your cellphone’s calendar so you don’t forget or lose track of your treat week. Ase’

Part 3

There are so many ways for us to practice self love we just have to do ourselves justice by taking the time out from life and all of its craziness to stop, catch out breath, look within and ask ourselves what it is we need or want to be truly happy.

Once you figure that out, start on a small scale and work your way up to the whole pie in the sky. Simple things are building blocks to get you going on your journey. Once you get going the momentum keeps growing and it gets easier. After awhile you won’t need a calendar reminder to do things for yourself it will become habit, a normal part of your day not just a weekly or biweekly thing.

We all deserve to smile. We don’t deserve to look to others who leave us heartbroken and sad. Your smile, your happiness is within you. Grab it, own it, live it!! Ase’

Part 4

After you learn to love yourself, spend time by yourself and truly enjoy it, then and only then will you be able to love another and truly enjoy the company of others.

I know, I know you’ve heard that saying, “ You can’t love anyone if you don’t love yourself!” far too many times in life. It’s annoying BUT also very true! If you don’t love yourself, you’ll allow others to mistreat you and even abuse you.

Think about it!!........... Now, take a deep breath, go to the mirror, look yourself in the eyes, introduce yourself, get to know yourself and start truly LOVING YOURSELF!!! Ase’
