THINK IT, DO IT

Once upon a time, humans believed that information was powerful. Nowadays, not so much. We try to say it’s not right to produce pollution, getting into the other lives, and we become not self-aware. We say that we make our possible means, but we close our eyes sometimes just because others do it worse. Do not forget that words are powerful, but our actions are what make that strong words to be real.

In a digital world, when everything is made to show that we care – even if it’s just for show –, let’s get the reality straight! We all make errors; we all talk about our opinions and what we wanted to change… All the words, all photos for someone to see. We have lost the connection to the Nature world and try to save it by being digital all the time? Even now, for me to be writing this, I’m increasing my ecological footprint.

We all know what is happening for a long time, we try to say it’s not ok to be living the way we live and that the planet is getting punished by our actions. The reality is that all of us, in some way or another, need to destroy the world to be alive. We kill specimens to eat – I’m not talking about meat, but about all beings. We use power to see into the night, to call or chat with somebody far from us. We are a society that consumes a lot of energy and dismisses any kind of real change.

Books kill trees, but how much of our digital book is destroying the world? I’m not telling the world: let’s live in caverns again and eat what is around our habitat – it’s more important than that. We have to differentiate the basic needs of the other not-so-basic ones.

Our focus’s all about what do we get from our actions and never about what we can make to turn our activities into something better for the world. It’s a lot easier to accommodate our lives in the constant routine instead of feeling the pain of actual change.

If we do an activity impossible to make pollution-free, can we try to reduce that pollution? A personal investigation is in order to do that. We all repeat what we hear that’s fine to do and the stuff that we need to judge. But do you actually help the person that is in your judgment to step out and do something better or just do some point fingers? Words are powerful, but actions and emotions are the keys to really think about our problem.

Don’t do or say what is supposed to be said. Think – it is another challenge currently, have your own thoughts – and do what you need to do. People will always believe in what they want to. Your actions are the real proof of the urgency to save the planet. Do not print a paper saying to save trees, plant them instead! Do not judge people who don’t try to change, try to help them understand and become more eco-friendly.

Don’t try to be successful in money, getting things, and being known. Be yourself without harming the planet with intention. Be the kind of people who spray the love, the hope, and the importance of being part of a larger purpose than our own life. We are more than flesh and bones. We have inspiration, a soul, more to be than this human body that consumes energy. Make that energy count!

And please, new generations, stop blaming all the past ones about the past. Change the way you want to alert the environment. Focus on today. Change yourself today. Get real.
