The vast distances between the stars.
The space between the stars is vast. Using our own unaided vision about 5,000 stars are visible from the surface of our planet, but the Earth itself gets in the way and restricts what we can see, therefore we can only see about 2,500 stars from any one viewpoint on our planet.

The Speed of the Earth’s Rotation is Deceiving.
1 / 4 Most of us will know that the Earth rotates on its axis once every 24 hours. If you were to stand on the widest part of the Earth, the equator, you would be travelling at 1,670 kilometres per hour, all due to that rotation. But the farther you travel north or south from that point, the slower your rotating speed would be.
