happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
Just No More
I want to live in a world where we are not judged by the color of our skin, or by the kind of music we listen to, or where we grew up. I want to live in a world where it is okay to be seen in public in sweatpants, messy hair, and no makeup; where we are not defined by our mistakes, but by our goals and successes.

The Sad Truth
It was a normal day when I decided to walk to the nearest Family Dollar. I had a few essential things to get. Most times I go to HEB but today, Family Dollar. As I walked up to the cashier to pay I noticed she seemed depressed and tired, like life wasn't going her way at all. The question just came out of me, "You seem tired, are you okay?"

Ways to Help You Follow Your Dream
Hello everyone! Life is weird, isn't it? You are told to that you have to do things out of obligation just so you can get to where you want to be or do what you want to do. In the middle of that process, you are put in a situation that makes you feel trapped. I want you all to know that even though circumstances may have a handle on our lives in most cases, we can still keep a positive attitude and go after passions and goals!

Moving...
It’s that time again. The sight of brown, the feel of stickiness, the ragging chaos of personal belongings being packed away. Total emptiness suffocating me. This is what moving feels like. I’ve moved around many times. It was nothing new to me. The only difference was that I would be moving across the country; leaving family, friends, and a life I’ve grown to love. This would be a new experience. “You get to start over,” I was told by my loved ones. With only the best interest in mind, I agreed to leave my hard work behind to start fresh. With an open mind, my family and I packed up, venturing off to California for a new start.

Navigating the World of Becoming an Adult
As the first day of summer arrives, many kids all over the globe are starting their long-awaited break from the overbearing pressure of school. Public pools are packed with screams of utter joy from the children who are usually half asleep at their desks most of the year. Summer seems to be that time in childhood where the restraints from school and parents finally seem to wear off. A few years go by and it’s finally time for high school graduation. It seems to be time for the ultimate summer break. If high school wasn’t the best time of our lives, college must be even better, right? Living on our own and making our own rules, living life the way we have always dreamed. No mom and dad always looking over our shoulders telling us what to do. For the first year, maybe two or three, it’s so fun to finally feel like we can do whatever we want. That’s when it hits. We can do whatever we want. After 18 long years of someone constantly telling you where to go, when to do things, what to wear, it’s finally up to us. It felt freeing, but now all we feel is lost.

Why It's Okay Not to Care
What We Can Learn Ever been told that you’re not good enough? That your work just isn’t quite right or that you’re not qualified enough for a job? We’ve all been there. It’s a part of life and we are all going to experience rejection in some form or another. If I’m honest, we need to experience it. We need to know what it feels like to be put down because it is the only way that we are going to get back up again. But, do you know what the most important thing we can learn from rejection is? Not to care. We don’t need to care about what people think, and do you know why? Because it’s our happiness that matters the most. Not someone's idea of it. Believing in ourselves is the greatest means for success. If we care about what we do and if it means something to us then everyone else’s opinion should be just that. An opinion.

Powerlessness & Invincibility
Breathtaking. That’s the only word that comes to mind when I remember this day and this view. One of my favorite places in Oregon (truthfully, my list of favorite places there is quite long), Crown Point will always be a place I make a point to visit when I travel there. It was actually one of my first adventures in Oregon when I first moved to Vancouver, WA in the fall of 2014.

Vacations Cost Too Much, Here's a Solution
Sometimes I just want to catch the cheapest flight out of my current location to somewhere new. I've caught myself Googling "cheapest flights from X" too many times. I've even looked into my credit card's points to see if I have enough to go somewhere.

Moral Honesty
Recently I listened to the Brilliant Idiots podcast and it made me think about moral honesty — the ability for us as people to speak our truth even when there could be repercussions. As simple as this seems, this can be very difficult for us all. I question why we feel the need to hide who we are and our systems of belief. Moral honesty is necessary for our progression as people even though it can be more comfortable to walk with the crowd.
