My YouTube Automation Journey Pt.2 (RIP)
How I went from $10k / month to ZERO
I did 6 months of YouTube Automation…
A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about YouTube Automation. You can check out the article here:
If you check the article, you’ll read I wasn’t doing well. I’d like to give you an update about what happened since then, and what my future plans are.
Current situation
Truth? I’m still not doing well.
After many months, I’m still not earning any money with YouTube, while my costs for video production stay the same.
All the money that I earned previously has been re-invested, and now I’m using ALL my side-hustle income that I get to re-invest in YouTube videos. Is that smart? I don’t know.
“Which side hustles does he do?” — I hear you think.
Well, I do a few things:
- Print on demand, more info here
- I rent out a room in my apartment via Airbnb
- I’m a personal trainer & health coach in a gym
- I create & host websites for people
- And a few more things
What’s the problem with my channels?
My channels have been publishing mostly re-used content from TikTok. I use the most known, viral clips and make compilations out of them.
This is good, but also really bad:
- Why good? I get millions of views and tons of subscribers
- Why bad? I can’t monetize because YouTube doesn’t allow “re-used content” in their partner program.
If I can’t monetize, then why on earth should I do this?
Answer: 3rd Party Monetization Companies
Luckily, there are bunch of companies out there that could help me with this issue. Even though I can’t monetize via YouTube, there are still other ways to earn money with my channels.
Here are a few companies I’ve encountered:
- Cursor.co
- Enfinity.co
- YourVirals.com
Basically, what these companies do — is provide me with clips or audio fragments, that I have to compile within my videos.
Next, they “claim” this video as if it’s theirs, and they get the ads revenue from it. If people watch the YouTube video, ad revenue is being generated. And because these companies have their claims on the video, they will get the revenue.
Finally, they share a part of the revenue with me. This can be 50/50, 60/40 or something like that. And don’t forget — these companies also share a part of the revenue with YouTube as well!
Am I crazy?
Yeah, I know what you’re thinking... I’m putting in all the work and only getting 50% of the revenue, I must be crazy.
Well, that depends on the number of views and subscribers I get. Big numbers lead to big revenue. If my video would generate 4000 dollars per month, I’d be happy to share 50% and take my $2000, wouldn’t you?
Also, the amount of money I pay to have these re-used content compilation videos made, is far less than what it would cost me to produce original videos. So in the end, I will (should) be profitable. Exciting.
It could be more — if I monetize via YPP directly — but in my case… it’s not. And it’s better than nothing so I’m happy with it.
Conclusion
There you have it. That is my plan for the coming months. I have recently started to add clips to my videos, and within 2 months, I should get revenue. I’ll keep you posted, perhaps I’ll even share the numbers with you… if you subscribe ;)
Just kidding, do what you want.
P.S, almost forgot to mention
There are other ways for me to make money via YouTube that I started doing now:
- Selling products or merchandise (Print on Demand), by putting links in video description and showing some images of my cool awesome t-shirts.
- Work with brands as an influencer, promote other content or other channels (put your mail address in your description, tell them to contact you there for “business enquiries”).
- Add affiliate links. For example, create an amazon affiliate account, and add affiliate links to products in your description.
See you soon!
