Have you ever stayed up late and woken up feeling terrible?Imagine this, but every day, usually, no matter how much sleep a depressed person gets, they wake up with no energy.This lack of energy makes it difficult for them to get out of bed and complete daily tasks that people without depression seem to do automatically.You might think of depression as an invisible burden that brings you down everywhere you go.You may not see it but it's there, which makes life more difficult.

Have you ever tried to pay attention to a class that you didn't like at all?Time seems to pass more slowly and all you can do is count the minutes until they pass.People with depression may feel there is no joy or pleasure in life, making them indifferent to everything that happens in daily life.Everyone has trouble focusing on things they don't enjoy, like homework or housework.What happens when a person generally doesn't enjoy life?She may become numb and no longer focus on the world around her.

Do you compare yourself to models and influencers on social media?People with depression often do the same thing, but on a much larger scale, it goes much deeper than thinking their body is imperfect.Instead, they will associate it with the idea that they are a failure as a person, as a family member, as a friend.They may see everyone around them living happily and think that it is their fault that they are struggling.Of course, this doesn't happen because depression is no one's fault, but just like trying to stop comparing yourself on social media, trying to stop thinking of yourself as a failure.

Do you have a complicated relationship with food?Sometimes you eat because you feel sad, bored, or lonely even when you are not hungry, like eating for pleasure.People with depression can use food as a coping mechanism, they may overeat to distract themselves from their feelings or to avoid feeling numb or on the other hand,They may feel numb or apathetic to the point that all food is unappetizing.In cases like this, it's important to avoid expressions like "you should be grateful for the opportunity to eat" or "you take what you have for granted." Instead, you mightwant to listen to why they're eating unhealthily and try to remember that it's not something that can be fixed overnight.

Do you sometimes feel like things will never get better?Whether related to the pandemic or not, everyone can think of a time when they felt helpless and hopeless, but it's not just people with depression who feel hopeless.They may think they will never achieve everything or learn to cope with depression.This constant state of hopelessness can leave them feeling constantly exhausted and unmotivated.Imagine the worst headache you’ve ever had, now imagine having a headache every two weeks.While many people think that mental health and physical health are completely separate, they actually overlap in many ways.For example, people with depression are more likely to experience body aches, headaches, nausea, and muscle tension.So even if you find it difficult to understand the complex thoughts and feelings of someone with depression, you may find it easier to empathize with them when you know what physical pain feels like. In short, depression is a very serious and common condition all over the world, so try to reach out to people who are depressed and do your best to help them.
