Listen and remember this...
The bricks and questions in your life
"What do I want?"
"Where do I want to go in life?"
"What is the purpose of life?"
These are some questions which we ask ourselves or ask other people who we think are wise, have found their inner peace, or who found true happiness. But somehow we always end up with more questions or we don't like or understand the anwser.
Hi, my name is Flora and I have asked myself these things a lot a year ago. Today I am sitting here and writing these words because I found the answers for myself and I want to share them with you. Of course, we two don't have the same mind, the perspectives and the same way of thinking but if you got a little closer to your own answers for life after reading this then it was worth it.
"What Do I Want?"
Well, I think we can agree on the fact that you are the one and only one person who can answer this for yourself and there also is a good chance that you already know a few things that you want in your life, like a family or money or maybe you have this huge dream of opening a café, but if you still sit here with no dreams and no ideas then I want you to do these steps:
Take a sheet of paper and a pencil and write at least 20 to 30 things you want. These things can be as simple as a plant or as huge as your own villa in a big city. The most important rule as you are writing is that you don't stop until you have enough dreams. If you give up that easily then your dreams obviously aren't worth a penny for you.
Now that you have dreams that you want to fulfill, the big question is:
"How Do I Fulfill My Dreams And Goals?"
Good for you, nowadays there are so many different ways to fullfil your dreams. If you have the motivation and more important the consistency, is another question which, again, only you can anwser or, even better, prove through action. But let's not drift away to another topic...so, "How". When you want to know how to get something you have to know which items you need to be able to get the thing you want. This sentence may sound a little confusing but let me simplify it with an example:
1. a villa -> 2. money -> 3. a job with high profit/making money online/starting my business
1. the thing I want/my dream -> 2. the item I need to get the thing I want -> 3. the item I need to get the first item I need
"Where Do I Want To Go In Life?"
This question makes you decide which future you want so better think twice or thrice about this question. Now you may think about the kind of person you want to be, where you want to live, how many kids you want to have, in what topics you want to wide your horizons or maybe some other options which I didn't list here. In this chapter I am going to talk about your financial state, your state of your mind and your physical state.
Your Financial State:
If you want to answer it the simplest way possible then there are three options:
- poor: I doubt that many people want to live like that, but sadly most people already do so if you want to life poor, you do you, however it by far isn't the best way to live life.
- medium: A large amount of people live like this and they like it and it is a nice state to be in: not too poor and 'not too rich'. But there is one main problem: The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, so what will happen with the middle? It disappears.
- rich: Not many people with the most money are here. The reason why not many people are rich is mostly because of the mindset: Everyone thinks that getting rich is impossible even though they have never tried it. Because some fear of getting rich, because with being rich comes the responsibility of taking care of a large amount of money. What people don't know is that most millionaires often started poor and climbed their way up. The reason why the rich people are so different than the middle is because of their mindset and because they simply took action.
Your State Of Mind
If your mind is programmed to think that you can't do more than a 9-5 job or that it doesn't matter what you do because it won't change anything then you have to delete these believes out of your mind because they are toxic. They won't help you in any situation, they won't solve any problems and they are the main reason why it is so hard to do the first step to your goal. The first step of something is always hard and it always will be, you can't change that. But what you can change is the way you view it. You either see something as a massive brick which stops you to do anything OR you notice it, you look at it and the more you prepare yourself to step over that brick the more you get excited, the more you WANT to step over that brick and be proud of yourself. You need to learn to love challenges. How you can do it, you ask? I give you one main keyword: positivity. Whenever a bad thought crosses your mind like "Isn't this too much for me?", "Maybe I am too young/old for it...", "Maybe I just can't do it..." interrupt yourself from this kind of thinking and replace these phrases instantly with "I could do far more than that!", "It is never too late/too early!", "I can do it and more!". Positivity is always better than toxity!
And if in your case you don't doubt your strength but your appearance, smiling at yourself in the mirror can also change a lot, macýbe even laugh in the mirror or do all types of things you want to do which could make you happier. When you can make yourself happy, can do fun things alone and care for yourself and your health then you don't depend on nobody. It is also important not only to have a healthy mind but a healthy body with leads me to my last bullet point of this chapter...
Your physical state
As already said: Your physical state is as important as your mental state. E.g.: When you lack of consistency (-> bad mental state) you will stop doing sport in less than one or two months (-> bad physical state). Sport is a very important way for your body to let the unnecessary energy out instead of crying to let it out or maybe even not to let it out at all. If you won't let all the stress, frustration and anxiety out in a longer period of time then it will come out all at one, like a massive waterfall which you fall down and think you will drown because of all this pressure that pushes you deeper and deeper in the water. Sport, of course, doesn't only affect our emotions in a good way but also our body: It strengthens the muscles, the bones, your flexibility and your balance. While some people work out twice a week, others smoke cigarettes twice a day or more. Surprise, you should avoid all types of drugs. If you use drugs as a tool to get over your problems and depression, you should try to view it as a friend, as fake friend. It will make you feel happy, lighter and like all your problems are gone. Well, they aren't gone and neither is your depression. There are three methods to deal with problems:
- You deal with it. Maybe you speak with your partner, your family or your friends. You could also go to a therapist. The most important thing is that you realise that you have a problem and you try to fix it.
- You suppress it. You try to ignore it with all types of things: drugs, partys, meeting friends and acting all happy. The problems are still there and they aren't going to solve themselves.
- You feel it and let it eat you up. You are too tired to meet or talk with anyone. Life doesn't has a purpose for you. So you ask yourself:
What Is The Purpose Of Life?
The question which was always in the back of my head. This small but turtious voice. "What even do you live for? Is there any reason? WHY CAN'T YOU FIND AN ANSWER?! FIND ONE! IF YOU DON'T THEN...why are you even here?"
...Why are we here, you ask? It took me a while but when I stopped to try to ignore you, turtious voice, and searched and searched and searched I found the answer. Do you want to know the answer? Here it is: It is a trick question. Everyone says :"First you get a degree, then a job, then a family and you will live happily ever after.". And I was surely not the only one to who it didn't feel like this was the right answer. The reason why I think that this question is a trick question is because all we want is to live happy and what I noticed, was that when I was happy I forgot about this question completely. I just thought: "Fuck this question!". And every time this question would get in my head again I would replace the question with "Fuck this question!".
Live your life to the fullest but don't forget to take breaks. You need breaks everywhere: school, job, sport, learning and there are many other things. Always take breaks, give your brain some peace and then you can start again with more power, more consistency, more action and more motivation.
So,
Listen and remember this:
- Always make sure to have goals. They can be simple, like deciding that you are going to shower cold the next morning (Cold showering is good for your blood flow and you feel extremly refreshed after.)
- Your happiness shouldn't depend on others.
- Be comfortable in your own skin. Your body is your home so treat it like it, you won't get a second home. So enjoy every minute in your beautiful, warm, healthy, sunny, gorgeous home.
- Appreciate the little things and your life will brighten up.
- Never forget to be thankful for the things you have. And if you do, write a list of things you are thankful for. You can write people on it, animals, sunsets, seasons even water.
- When you ask too many questions, you will think too much and forget to live.
And finally...
- ...We live in a world that is made to keep us in our comfort zone, so that we never want to get out. But, oh dear reader, there is so much more in this world to explore than on your phone or your laptop.
