Just say no.
I’m a people pleaser. On almost any occasion I am the first to take on a new project, always up to grab dinner and always willing to pick up others slack. This is mostly because with any job or position I take on I want to do my best. I want to be seen as productive, as helpful, and as a useful member of the team.

The Art of Security
It starts with you. That may sound very clique, especially when speaking on the topic of security within one's self. Honestly, however, there is no other real sense of security in the world. Now, this is coming from the girl that tried everything. From money to internet clout, I used every avenue to try and fill the void I had. At the time, what I didn’t understand was that there were things from long ago that created that void, and until I addressed those things I would never find the new things that could truly fill the void. I feel a few things played a part in this, but it all boiled down to a lack mentality that I didn’t realize I was feeding. By "lack mentality" I mean the mindset that led me to believe I solely was not enough. Comparing myself to others or listening to what others think of me and taking that as bible were only adding fuel to the fire I felt was burning away all the beautiful parts of me. Giving people the role of God in my life was almost the death of me. Then I realized (slowly but surely) that no one knows me better than I do. I spend every second of every day with myself, and no one else on this earth can say they have that much experience with me. The moment you realize you are all you need for you, you will see the things in your life shift for the better.

What I Learn When People Are Too Focus On The Past
I was watching a drama the other day when I came across a scene that makes me wonder. In that scene, the lead actor is asking the lead actress about her ex-lover and why does she keep hung on the past until she forgets to live in the moment and appreciate the good things that currently happening in her life now.

Goal setting model for high performance and motivation (1000+ experiments back it up)
Goal setting is not new anymore. You would have heard and learned about S.M.A.R.T. (E.R.) goal-setting frameworks. Plenty of detail is available on the internet related to this framework.

Don't Rest on Your Laurels
Complacency is the killer of any sustained success. What you have done in the past is in the past. Unfortunately, you cannot rest on your laurels for very long. One of my favorite expressions in the English language: “Don’t rest on your laurels” means to not be complacent with what you have done and to keep moving forward. Success is only temporary and while it can be lasting, if you don’t sustain what you’ve done to accomplish more, you may find yourself back at square one. You can be satisfied with your achievements and recognize them, but it is not wise to continue relying upon them when you need to be aware of what you have to do in the present and in the future.

Self-Love
With more people discussing the importance of mental health and self-care, the concept of loving yourself has become a prominent topic of discussion. However, what most people fail to mention is the lengthy process involved with self-love and the continuous battle to stay on the right track towards acknowledging your own worth. In other words, self-love does not happen overnight – it takes time, effort and a lot of internal reflection.

The Magic of Embracing Your Inner Child
Since finishing my sophomore year of college from my childhood bedroom in St. Louis rather than in my chic, open-double dorm room at Syracuse University, I have had more than enough free time on my hands. The exhausted student in me is telling me to use this time to sleep in until noon and binge watch New Girl on Netflix until ungodly hours. While I have definitely been indulging in this opportunity for laziness, something about living in my aqua blue bedroom covered in childhood photos, art projects and books has inspired me to embrace the child in me.

From the Inside Out
Perspective can change everything. How do you feel about expectations? Do you feel constantly disappointed by others? What if I could convince you that if you change your perspective about expectations, you could avoid the disappointment? Expectations can either learn you or burn you. If you look up the meaning of expectation, it is defined as a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future; a belief that someone will or should achieve something; one's prospects of inheritance. Expectations often times lead to disappointments. Why? A disappointment is defined as sadness or displeasure, caused by the nonfulfillment of one's hopes or expectations. But only if YOU let it! Disappointment has a negative connotation therefore can leave you with a negative experience. What you gain or lose is up to you. The gain would be defined as learning a lesson and subtracting the expectation.

Happiness is a choice
I recently saw a quote that went along the lines of 'if you want to be happy, you have to be happy on purpose. When you wake up, you can't just wait to see what kind of day you'll have...you have to decide it yourself'. And that really got me thinking about how so many of us seem to think of happiness as a result of something. We see happiness as something we will achieve as an end result such as "I'll be happy once I lose 10 pounds" or "I'll be happy once I graduate this degree" and so on. But happiness never seems to arrive, right? There is always another thing and another goal to achieve before we can truly experience happiness. It always seems so close yet so far away. And we have made it unattainable by perceiving happiness as a result.
