The Way Ahead
To move forward one has to look at their past. How many times have you heard something like that? I bet I’ve watched or read something along those lines about 5 or 10 different times if I really think about it. But, if an idea is present in so many different forms of media then there must be a thread of truth in there, right?

A fresh start, is it really?
I have been thinking about ways to make myself better. Ways to change the things I don't like about myself while searching within to pick up new things to love about me. To begin with, the goal was a clean slate, no weights, and no carrying baggage that should've been set down long ago. It was time to give my arms and shoulders a break from all the things that kept me from living in my truth and being my best self.

To be Happy
“Happy” was just a word for me for a long time. It wasn't until I met someone in 2020 that showed me and constantly reminded me over casual dinners and great conversation that there is no reason to stress. I didn’t get it at first. It stressed me out thinking that he could say there is no reason to stress without considering all the factors of life! What about bills? Employment? Family? Debt? The list goes on! I was constantly thinking about all my worries and concerns in the back of my mind. I realized that time with a new friend or dinner with a handsome someone are bits of happiness. I was able to shut my mind off. Ignore the bad stressful thoughts even, I admit. I didn't allow myself to think of anything that might have caused me to make my forehead tense up and wrinkle a little. I just had to breathe and enjoy the now! The NOW was wonderful! I love to travel and was in a new place and had met many great people. It all seemed perfect.

Embrace the Transformation
It isn't any wonder why many people today choose to avoid declaring a drastic change for the sake of a holiday. New Year's resolutions are steeped in expectations based on Western societal norms. They are also assumed absolutes, for the definition of resolve is to find an answer, to solve, to determine.

This Year, I Dance
THIS YEAR I DANCE I was 23 when my husband died. They say you lose a part of yourself with everyone, because each person brings out something different. With him I lost my adult self. We were 18 when we met, 20 when we married, and everything I knew about living without my parents included him. Ten months after he died my mental health spiraled, and I checked myself into a mental health behavioral center. The most liberating day was when I honest with myself. I had a journal, and I did start vomit writing my feelings and thoughts. “I HATE MYSELF” I wrote and continued with all the things I hated about me. That was 4 years ago and today I realized that my self-image was developed into my adult self. The hole left behind contained more than I could, at that time, comprehend.

Cold & Alone
The blood dripped down to my boots and the cold started to sink in, as I lay in it's icy embrace I thought to myself; "This can't be it, I have to survive, I have to make it home to my beautiful Amber and sweet little Gracie." I crawled in the dirt field grasping at the dead earth, a voice echoed in my ears like the sound of faint wind chimes, "Reigns I got you brother stay with me now. You're gonna make it home to your wife and little girl." I look up with my glazing heavy eyes to a silhouette of my brother in arms but his face... was... not him. Eyes as black as night peered into my soul and the feeling of emptiness surrounded me as I fought to fill my lungs with air, claws and a foggy darkness pulled me through the blood soaked dirt. As I struggle helplessly trying to break free, I see Amber in the distance and she slowly turns her back on me taking my daughter with her. I cried out for Gracie as she disappeared into the fog and darkness.

Clean Slate
Every New Year’s Eve, we write our resolutions. We swear we’ll keep to them. We seldom do. One of the reasons we “cheat” ourselves (so to speak) through the year is because once we’ve broken a resolution, we figure we might as well keep breaking it and start over next New Year’s Eve. Well, people like me at least. Scratch that, the old me was like that. Who is the new me then? And how Does one “become” her? Well, for starters, start now. Decide right now that that’s who you want to be. Write it down, pin it on Pinterest. You could even start a vision board about it. However you do it, think it- be it. The second you doubt yourself and start telling yourself that you might as well wait until next year, that’s where you start making a “cushion” for yourself. A comfort zone if you will. Take this for example: my “10 year anniversary” with my now husband is this year. We started dating 10 years ago this March. Married in 2018. We’ve had our ups and downs throughout the years. Some years were great, some were so incredibly stressful that we have contemplated splitting up. Regardless of that, I decided that not only will this year, 2021, be our year- but we are going to try to start off a new decade of our relationship on a more positive and healthy note as well. It sounds hard- and he thinks its going to be so hard- but if you take a few steps back to look at it, you’ll see that there’s not as much to it as you thought. Just because you can’t reach the top corners of the big picture yet doesn’t mean that it‘s not worth having-you know, the big picture. You have to acknowledge that big picture every now and then to remember the parts you don’t yet have access to yet and remind yourself why you need it.

Alright who Sprayed the Cheese Can
Welcome to year that can only guide us into the stronger, well minded, and patient people that we are! After your morning routine I want you to take a few extra minutes in the morning to stretch and give your body that fulfilling boost! There are many ways to STAY ACTIVE and sometimes it’s hard to feel motivated when we aren’t seeing the world. Especially if it’s just you in the room, but even a dance party can active the body and get you moving. Pick a few of your favorite songs and try to focus on main groups of muscles for at least 15 minutes a day, your body will thank you! On top of that if it’s sunny, take a walk outside just to keep blood flow and even take it a step further by going on a hike at least 3 times a week! I find it important to keep the body moving and switching up the way you go about it. Do a different activity a day. Swim laps one day, go for a run, skate for an hour or two, do a HIT program, box, you get the picture. It’s about keeping our bodies functioning and prepared to do it all, not just our physical appearance.

Fresh New Start
Fresh New Start. Resolution means to resolve something that is an issue. When I break down the word it literally shows me the energy the universe is reading from this intention RE- “Do again” Solve “find solution” it sets into motion the energy of Re solving an issue.
