Ode To A Stranger
“What would you say with your last breath?” I whisper, standing in front of the town’s old, brick church, mentally preparing myself to enter, soaking up the warmth from the sun’s rays. I made sure to get here early so I could have a moment of serenity before the funeral services begin. This feels like one of the most important things I have ever done.

One Page at a Time
"Journalling," he said, as he slapped a little black book down in front of me, "Add this to the tools in your arsenal." We'd been given a lot of tools in rehab, but I wasn't clear on how to use them. First, there was prayer - I wasn't sure I believed in it. Next came meditation - my thoughts were panicked and racing. Asking me to sit still and stop thinking was surely an impossible punishment. Another was exercise - every inch of my body ached from withdrawal. I couldn't even fathom joining those fun-loving cross-fit freaks. "You're going to journal each morning and each night." and with that, group therapy was dismissed.

SOME PEOPLE ARE LUCKY
THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE LUCKY By Devin Wilson There are some people who are lucky, they have a plan, they know exactly what they are going to do with themselves. But most of us have no idea, merely coasting through life, never realizing our goals. However, there are a few of us who get lucky, find our niche so to speak. For years it felt as if success was just out of my reach, as if something was holding me back, but I couldn’t figure out what. And when I finally did, the irony was almost heart breaking.

Money
I am a traveling educator/garbage artist/humanitarian. I have traveled the nation researching homelessness and pollution, documenting and filming the harsh realities and striving to implement change by educating homeless how to make things they can use and sell out of “trash”. Our wildlife eats our garbage, we have an obscene amount of people on the streets and our world is sick because of it.

I Am Done!
Have you ever experienced a time in your life where someone, or something, was just unrelenting in upsetting you, causing you pain, causing you stress, causing you heartache, causing you suffering, causing you hardship, or causing you continual unhappiness? Did it become so bad that you just reached breaking point, leading you to blurt out words to the effect of "I'm done", or "I'm over it", or "I've had enough of this"? You'd certainly be a rare case if there hasn't been some time in your life in which you just simply had enough of someone, or something, that was continually getting you down. I know I have had many such times in my life. A couple of these instances spring to mind. I previously had a girlfriend who was just constantly negative, and constantly moody, and it came to a point where I became so frustrated, that I finally ended the relationship. I was just so over going from being in a happy, positive, and cheerful mood, to a grumpy, angry, and annoyed, mood, following every second conversation with this particular girl. She just had this knack of dragging me down, and making me feel bad. Even despite having several conversations with her about how she was making me feel, and how her negativity and moods were affecting me, nothing changed. That was just a part of her personality unfortunately, and it's a shame she was unable to control her emotions. Personally, I don't believe it's the right thing to do, in asking someone to change for us, and I didn't go down that path of asking her to change for me, but it became apparent that we just weren't compatible together. I needed someone like minded, more positive, optimistic, and supportive. The solution to my unhappiness in the relationship aspect of my life, was that I had to make a change. As much as I didn't want to have to break her heart, or anyone else's for that matter, I had no other choice, as I was tired of how she was making me feel sad and unhappy all the time. A relationship shouldn't feel like that, so I developed the courage to break it off with her. It was one of the toughest things I have ever had to do, yet it was necessary!

Anxiety in the Pandemic
Okay, I will go first. Sometimes embarrassment can keep me from telling the truth. The snide looks, hurtful remarks, the fear of judgement...from people you know, or if you are on social media, people you may not know. But, the truth of the matter, embarrassment is not my bully.

Old Money
Urgency, that is the spirit our society worships. To be the center of the flipping universe, there is pressure on the importance of urgency. “I need my money now!” Shrieking at the top of your lungs when your rent is due is your problem, not mine. That is what one perceives in a human transaction with customer service: the disrespect, the lack of empathy. One would think that, but they are wrong. We do care on the other side, but your money is my money too. I got bills just like you, and if the man says these are the rules. Your money is mine. Mine to purchase my future children’s healthcare. Mine to put food on the table. Mine. If you want your money, read the terms and conditions. It does not matter the transaction. Whether commerce, travel, or luxury. Find the print that keeps your money your money before it becomes mine.

Black In Business
The black person who has really inspired me as I’ve been able to live this life has been Malcolm X. Even though he has passed on and his life was cut shorter than an unwanted conversation, the legacy he left behind has really caught my attention. From the charisma in his attitude to the knowledge stored in his unique mind. I strongly believe that with a little more time on planet earth he would have been able to sway this country along with many other countries in any way he wanted. In "The Autobiography of Malcolm X," the alluring dark strict patriot reviews his earth shattering 1964 journey to Mecca, a visit that would modify the course of his life and vocation. For a very long time this clergyman of the Nation of Islam had been trumpeting a convention of the characteristic evil of white individuals, comparing the fantasy of American correspondence to a bad dream for American blacks and advocating an arrangement to reclaim dark Americans by saving them from the tide of indoctrinating that had suffocated familiarity with the dark race's actual prevalence. It is around Malcolm's inexorably autonomous political action during the last 50 weeks of his life, joined with his surprising inversion of feeling about the chance of reclamation for white America, that such a lot of discussion and disarray have accumulated. Despite the fact that Malcolm X made numerous suggestions to a more extensive way of thinking of human local area, he just didn't live long enough to satisfy the guarantee of his critical yet provisional initial steps. While we may close with assurance that Malcolm X had dismissed the whites-are-villains professions that assisted with centering his prior life and presented to him the consideration and criticism of a country, we are raised short when attempting to manage the general compassion of his last days. Despite the fact that Malcolm X's heritage up to this point has been belittled and excused by the customary foundation, his prevalence never hailed among a framework of dark patriot activists, columnists and autonomous educated people who for 25 years have discussed seriously his importance to dark governmental issues, dark culture and American culture. These discussions have had a stream up impact; they made the justification for the current battle of understanding being pursued throughout Malcolm's significance presently. Yet Malcolm X has received nothing like the intellectual attention devoted to King. As the central figure of the civil rights movement, King justifiably has been the subject of extensive scholarship, but his cultural visibility also has to do with the style, content and aims of his leadership, which for most of his life were both easily translatable and largely attractive to white America. On the other hand, Malcolm X's complex leadership positions, which visited rhetorical scorn on white supremacy and which appealed especially to working-class and poor black people, have typically invited derision, caricature and dismissal forces that undermine extensive and balanced scholarly investigation. To be sure, a flood of writings about Malcolm X's legacy has been published over the years in alternative and black newspapers, journals, pamphlets and books; they have been vigorously discussed throughout this country's black communities. (Nearly two dozen books about Malcolm, ranging from biographies for young adults to collections of his writings, have been reissued or published for the first time this year.) Yet with notable exceptions, both mainstream and alternative literature on Malcolm X has often missed the mark, offering praise where critical judgment is called for, trapping itself in intellectual frameworks that neither illuminate nor surprise. So as you can see the amazing individual has had a major impact on me. Not even being able to meet such a person due to cruel circumstances is disheartening, but at the same time he left a lot of information for me to research and possibly continue the legacy the best way I know how.

Excuses Stop Here!
Time would have to be humankind's best friend, yet also our worst enemy. Time is one of the most precious things we have in our life, yet it is also one of the most unkindest things to us. Time gives us opportunity and moments of happiness, yet it also steals them away just as fast. Time provides us with many happy memories, yet also leaves us with many regrets. Time is one of those things we can choose to view either in a positive or negative light, or even both, as I have demonstrated above. Haven't we enough negativity in life though, than to add yet another thing on that list? As humans, we have a bad habit of judging people and things, and time is another victim of that. The truth is, time is blamed unfairly, and all because we just have to find an outlet to lay our blame and excuses on, for all our mistakes, errors, and missed opportunities, rather than being accountable and taking ownership for them. Time is something that none of us know exactly how much we have been granted to live through. Each and every one of us have an expiry date, and it's unavoidable. Some of us are blessed with an abundance of years, whilst some lives are unfairly cut short, but we can't dwell on what we can't control. When our time is up, it's up! What we can control is what we do with that time we are alive, and we do that by making every day count, and living each day like it is our last. Most of us don't live that way however. We live with this foolish belief that we will live forever, or we have plenty of time left to do the things we want to do in life, and in doing so, we start taking time for granted. We begin wasting away these precious days, simply muddling through life, doing what we are told by others, pleasing others, and applying our energy to things that aren't of great importance, rather than to the people and things that should be a priority. It's that mentality of living life and believing there will always be a tomorrow, when that is never ever guaranteed.

How To Forgive Yourself And Release The Past
Many of us recognize forgiveness as a positive act. It sets us free from anger and resentment, two feelings that not only feel bad, but also affect our physical health while keeping us from living authentically and experiencing the wonders of life.

Confessions of a Gemini Drama Queen
In September 1992, two consenting adults came together and mutually agreed to create a Gemini child. That child…was me. The world began on a Wednesday. Specifically, Wednesday June 9th in the year 1993. Two weeks overdue date, but either way, a Gemini.
