2018: The Year of No Excuses
I’ve never quite been one to do gigantic overhauls with my life around the New Year's time, but after 2017, I feel almost obligated to do so out of a personal fear of repeating the past over again.
Scott CorvusPublished 6 years ago in MotivationNew Year, New Me?
First of all, I am disgusted by myself for that. I hate hearing the "new year, new me" phrase, but I think (like every year) that this could be my year. I started this blog as a stay-at-home mom wanting to build a small extra income and socialize with other mommies out there; then it became too much. In the past year and a half, I had two falling outs with my family, separated from my husband, moved four times, celebrated Parker's birthday twice, joined a sorority, joined the honors society, started three jobs and still managed to maintain straight A's. Life is hard, what can I say? You hit a few roadblocks, and you keep on truckin'. Have I wanted to drop out of school? Yes! Have I considered getting a low wage job and living off the government for the rest of my life? Absolutely! But I want SO MUCH MORE out of my life.
Hilary NicodemusPublished 6 years ago in MotivationTo Love Yourself
I know there are some people out there in this world that go through a point in their lives when they lose themselves, which has more than likely made them second guess who they are, and their purpose as a measly little human being on this planet. I, for one, have gone through this, and as a matter of fact I’ve dealt with this my entire life. Since my childhood I’ve struggled with self-acceptance and always wanting to be liked by others, and because of this it caused me to desperately need approval from other people. This craving just grew every single day like a fast growing vine, and until I knew it my entire life was engulfed with this need for others to like me.

It's a new year and it's my favorite time of year because that means new beginnings and new opportunities to start over, start fresh, and give yourself a clean slate. Over the last few months, I found myself trying so hard to move on, from pain, from heartache, from missing a certain someone. January couldn't come fast enough.
Aurea GonzalezPublished 6 years ago in MotivationLighting Candles
I decided not to give up. That's quite a trait, you know...waiting, idling in place as the world around you turns and you're sitting (or standing) in place just waiting for the stars to burn. Bringing your wish to life. Semi-stars promising potential, though not negative, are not enough. You need the brightest stars, then the moon, to light your way. Each day is some sort of prison, whether created by yourself or others, or just the foundations of circumstance, who knows. What matters is that it is there, and while it is important not to forget in order that you do not lose the fire or the drive; what is far more important is to shift your focus onto your solution. Making ROCK BOTTOM your new home, only to burn it down later and use the old stones to build a new one. The DREAM, if you will.

This is just a short reflection of everything I learned in 2017 that I plan to take along to help me in 2018 and I hope you’ll find something helpful in this too. 2017 wasn’t the best year for a lot of us by the look of social media but maybe with some of these lessons and the new ones we will learn 2018 will be our year.

New Year, New Beginnings...
Every year I will set myself a New Year's resolution because I felt that It would be nice to a set a new goal to achieve. However, learning over time, I realized that New Year's resolutions are never going to be measurable or attainable unless you have the motivation to achieve your goals.

The holidays have come and gone in the blink of an eye. I spent Christmas with my family in Illinois and New Years with close friends in Pennsylvania. Each day I spent with those dear to me was a day spent in pure bliss. As my boyfriend and I cleaned and locked up the vacation house in Pennsylvania, we were both struck by sheer melancholy, and I have not been able to shake it since.

Judgment. This is something I have (unfortunately) become very familiar with, especially this past year. That new career change that you are really excited about? There is going to be someone saying, “You won’t make any money doing that!” or “Why would you want to do THAT?”

DIY. If you find that you can’t work within the machine, do it yourself. Gareth Edwards, director of the most recent Godzilla reboot, had one homemade feature to his credit prior to directing the $200 million return of the giant lizard. The film was an indie titled Monsters, and it was shot for less than $500,000. Monsters was no big commercial hit, as it grossed $4.2 million globally. The reviews, however, were sensational.

Is there something you really want in life? Is it a new job, house, husband or wife? Or do you want to make more money, or debt-free is the plan for this New Year? Well, what if I told you that you can have what you ask for just by using three simple words? Ask, Believe, and Receive. These three words have power. Some people do well with using these three words and are able to receive what they ask for or better. However, there are some people who have a hard time applying this to their life. I am going to show you exactly what to do to apply it to your life and receive what you ask for, but always remember TIMING plays a huge factor in receive what you ask for.
