I’m really trying to be happy these days and I realized that it’s not always simple. I’m working really hard and I’m starting to learn ways to be happier. Sometimes, you have to learn to enjoy little things and the present. Your life needs to be full of positivity, balance, and joy, and here are some keys to happiness. (I am not a psychologist or anything but these are keys I use in my life and they work for me and I hope they’ll work for you as well.)

  • Focus on things in your life you’re actually able to control. When you feel stressed, try to forget about what’s outside of your control.
  • Surround yourself by people who makes you feel good. You have the right to choose who’s good for you and who’s not. Choose your friends and hang on to them.
  • Think about things you’re really good at. I guess that some of these things took you practice. Well, it’s the same for happiness; you have to work on it.
  • List your values and beliefs. Think about how you integrate those values and beliefs into your life. Maybe some elements in your life aren’t aligned with your personal values. Is that something you could change? You should always stick to what you believe in.
  • List the things you say no to. If you know what you want and what you don’t want, you’re going to make better choices for yourself.
  • Find some things you are ready to get rid of. It can be an object in your house, a piece of clothing or something you’ve been holding onto emotionally. See this as a new beginning for yourself. Letting go of something emotional can be the best decision of your life and can make you feel free again.
  • Concentrate on thing that are challenging in a positive way. A sport you like, a new project. Take some time to work on that challenge every week.
  • Find some place where you feel comfortable and spend some of your personal time there. You can bring someone who makes you happy with you if you want.
  • Find things that shut your brain off. Listening to music, practicing a sport, drawing, taking a bath or whatever. Take time for yourself and do those things. Try not to think to much, try to relax, and enjoy the moment.
  • Try to understand what you really want and need. Yoga or meditation can help you with that. Connect with your inner self and respond to your needs. It can be really difficult to connect with you inner self at the beginning but practice makes perfect. One day you’ll master this art and it will make you as happy as you can be.
  • Find something positive in any situation. Tell yourself that everything happens for a reason and try to find that reason. Life is sending you signs. You have to life for that one thing positive in that one awful situation. There’s always a way to make something good out of something bad. You need to be resourceful.
  • Be proud of who you are. List the things you don’t want to change about yourself and make sure you don’t change them. You can also work on things you would like to change about yourself. Be the best version of yourself and don’t do it for others, do it for you.

I know that it’s not always easy, but I promise that, one day, happiness will cone your way.

Be sure to work on these tips every day of every week. There’s nothing more important than taking care of ourselves. YOU COME FIRST. Putting yourself first doesn’t make you selfish. :)
