2021 will hopefully be a Renaissance for all of us, even though the start of the year hasn’t been very hopeful. The vaccines have been rolling out, but I know several people who have fallen ill form it. I can’t have it until next month and my second dose in March. I will need to have it anyways if I want to travel the world again. Since travelling will be out of the question for the time being, I need to find other ways to improve myself and keep myself occupied without burning myself out. I did this a lot in 2020, and always found myself tired and exhausted and feeling like a failure when I can’t do everything at once.

Reading At Least One Book A Week

I’ve set my Goodreads goal as 52 books a year, which is one book a year. So far I’m doing well with this. Some books are very short whilst some are very long. I’m almost half way through George R.R Martin’s Clash of Kings. I found that by reading over a hund red books, I discovered what kind of books I like and what I don’t like. I also found that I was overloaded and pressured to get through them quickly. In 2020 I was trying to read everything all at once, with this target of one book a week, I hope it will give me a chance to take the information from the books in more and be able to retain information and scenes better. This will also help me as a writer as well and see what works in sentence structure and what dosen’t.

Having A Playlist For Each Moment

I have created playlists for writing, work outs, gyms and chores. I love music and I found it to be a major motivation towards my writing. I enjoy making playlists because I think they’re fun to do and it helps take the stress of each task go away.

Fall In Love With The Characters I Created Again

I think the main reason why I haven’t finished the five novels I started was because I fell out of love with the characters I created. I was able to finish Game of Mass Destruction was because I loved the characters and any characters that weren’t going anywhere with the story I killed off. I followed them at the moment, but when the ideas stopped, that was all that was left I didn’t know where their stories would end. Even if I just write a chapter a week, I hope to go back to these books an eventually complete them.

Not Absorbing Toxic Cultures

Wherever you go there will always be a toxic culture and a bitchy hierarchy. I had to leave a handful of jobs because of this. It’s not nice when you work so hard and people think you’re not doing your job properly. I hope that I never become a part of the toxic culture because I know how damaging it can be to your metal health. I do my best to stay positive but even toxic positivity can be damaging. And it’s not just the workplace, there’s the fandoms and the online communities.

Staying In Touch More

It’s hard to meet up with everybody, but a little email or a text on social media goes a long way. I’ve been finding the constant video chats exhausting and will only do it with close friends and family now, but it’ still nice even though it’s not as good as actually going out and doing things like we used to do.

Trying Different Things At Home

Last year I tried everything from Zumba, Kickboxing, Yoga and even laughing Yoga. I think out of all of them I’ve stuck to kickboxing and yoga the most. I noticed that a lot of stretches and warm ups share a lot in common with karate and jutsu. I‘m not an expert in any of these sports, but I enjoy them.
